What is MYTHO?

MYTHO: Game of the Gods is an educational game involving ancient Greek mythology and chess-like strategy. This page is designed to help educators understand how MYTHO can be a valuable teaching tool in and out of the classroom.

Educational Benefits

  1. Mythology Learning - MYTHO offers a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in Greek mythology. By strategizing with legendary heroes like Zeus, Achilles, or Athena, players will learn about their stories, abilities, and roles in ancient myths.
  2. Strategic Thinking - The game encourages players to think critically and strategically. Just like chess, players must plan their moves carefully, considering each hero's abilities and positioning, as well as the evolving game board. MYTHO promotes problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  3. Social Interaction - Collaboration and competition drive MYTHO players to improve their skills. Players can team up or face off against one another to improve EXP, ELO, and REP, fostering social interaction and communication skills, and providing teaching opportunities about good sportsmanship.

How to Use MYTHO

  1. In-Class Activities - Integrate MYTHO into classroom activities, such as discussions, essays, or presentations about Greek mythology. Encourage students to research the stories behind the heroes, helping them connect gameplay with educational content. Or, explore MYTHO's printable cards as a hands-on crafting project.
  2. After-School Clubs - Mentor a MYTHO club where students can come together to play and to discuss the myths and strategies behind the game. Students can organize tournaments or league matches amongst their classmates, working together to improve their skills.
